The Story of Salvation

The Story of Salvation unveils the “big picture” of God’s plan in Scripture. By showing how God’s story unfolds throughout the Bible, your group will come to see not only the meaning of specific Biblical stories but also the overall narrative of God’s love for his people.

CHAPTER 1: GOD'S DESIGN

To start, we learn that God created man in His image and likeness, and that this means we are beloved sons and daughters of God. Our relationship with Him forms our deepest identity.

CHAPTER 2: A NEW CREATION

Now we see the descendants of Adam’s two sons, Cain and Seth. One is characterized by a pursuit of God (Seth’s righteous line), the other by a pursuit of one’s own selfish desires (Cain’s sinful line).

CHAPTER 3: THREE PROMISES THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

Abram teaches what it really means to walk with God and entrust our entire lives to His plan.

CHAPTER 4: THE FATHER OF FAITH

We have seen Abram’s great faith; now we must look at his great sin, as well as its long-term effects.

CHAPTER 5: ALWAYS REACHING FOR MORE

The story of Abraham’s family picks up when his son Isaac marries a woman named Rebekah, who conceives twin sons that are rivals from the start.

CHAPTER 6: BRINGING GOOD OUT OF EVIL

Just as Jacob’s favoritism toward Rachel caused turmoil in his marriages, his preference for her son, Joseph, causes tension among his many children.

CHAPTER 7: LEAVING EGYPT

The new pharaoh has the Israelites enslaved and attempts to destroy them. God responds to this crisis by sending His people Moses.

CHAPTER 8: A JOURNEY THAT TESTS THE HEART

At every step of the way, we will see God testing the hearts of His people and the people coming up short.

CHAPTER 9: ENTERING THE PROMISED LAND

After the golden calf idolatry, the Israelites finally depart and head to the Promised Land.

CHAPTER 10: A LAND WITHOUT A LEADER

Next we encounter two key figures who represent different kinds of leaders who will either inspire the nation to godly living or drag the people down.

CHAPTER 11: A KING AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART

With David, Israel finally has an emerging spiritual leader who challenges the people to know the Lord once again.

CHAPTER 12: FROM DYNASTY TO EXILE

David crowns Solomon as his successor in the dynastic kingdom. However, the kingdom he entrusts to Solomon has been wounded by David’s own sins.

CHAPTER 13: THE CLIMAX OF THE COVENANT

As king, Jesus’ mission is to restore the kingdom of David. Everywhere He goes, He preaches “the gospel of the kingdom.”
