Dear Ladies of SEEK

It’s been over a week since we all departed from the incredible experience of SEEK2017 in San Antonio. Five days of stepping away from the craziness of life and stepping into a time of seeking. Seeking truth. Seeking beauty. Seeking goodness. Seeking the Lord. My heart will never be the same; I believe yours will never be the same either. But…

Having been to 15 FOCUS conferences, and scores of others, this is what I know: the high is likely fading and messy, day-to-day life is settling in.

Maybe you broke up with your boyfriend who you know is not right for you, yet now you are starting to wonder if you let go of “the one”. Maybe you came home determined to remain close to Jesus by praying every day, but you’ve already missed two days and are pretty sure you just can’t do it. Maybe you felt a distinct call to greatness, but now you’re trying to run from it as you tell yourself, “It’s too much. It’d change everything. Maybe if I ignore it, it’ll go away.”

Sisters, do not be afraid. What you experienced at SEEK was not a dream. It was real. It was more real than the twisted realities we are often presented with in day-to-day life.

That moment in adoration when God pierced your heart – that was real. That moment when you knew your worth and value, when you knew you mattered and had something beautiful to offer the world – that was real. That moment when you realized just how not right your boyfriend is for you – that was real.

The devil hates those moments. He hates the fact that in them you untwisted the lies he tries to whisper to you. “It’s fine. Just ignore that longing on your heart. You’re nothing special, stop pretending you are.”

Don’t let him win. Do not let him win.

We need you, ladies. The world, which is so hurting for true reality and love, needs you. It needs you to make it more human by embracing and living your genius. It needs you to remember that you are brave and you are strong, like Leah showed us. It needs you to believe in our God of redemption who can take whatever you’ve done or whatever has been done to you and make it new, like Crystalina proved to us.

Do not be afraid, ladies. He’s still here. He will always be here. Just because the high is gone does not mean He is gone. When you don’t feel Him, remember those moments when you did. Engrave them on your heart so you do not forget. He loves you. Let Him love you.

My prayers are with you. Lisa
