Creative Catholic Christmas Gifts 2013: Moving Beyond the Catholic Bookstore, Again.

Everyone wants to give the perfect gift…something unique, something personal, something meaningful. Accomplishing this task always seems harder than we anticipate it will be. Well, dear FOCUS blog reader, let me assist you in this daunting task by presenting Catholic Christmas Gifts 2013.

(And for even more ideas check out last year’s Catholic Christmas Gifts 2012 list.)

Gifts that Keep on Giving

Who doesn’t look forward to the arrival of something great? And you could be the one to bring about this joy by treating your recipient with a Catholic subscription, which will remind them just how much you love them all year long.

Magazines

For just about anyone on your list, spring for Catholic Digest or Tidings. For the amazing women in your life, sign them up for Verily Magazine. And for the kiddos, go with Magnifikid or St. Mary’s Messenger.

Audio Talks

If your recipient isn’t much of a reader, you can give them a monthly audio talk from Lighthouse Media. Choose from the classic subscription or the Truth be Told series for young adults.

For the Pope Francis Lover

Really, this is all of us. There is a lot of love for our Papa, which means there are a lot of products for him as well. There are Pope Francis rosaries, holy water fonts, key chains, and t-shirts, just to name a few.

And, I can’t leave out the amazing new book, Through the Year with Pope Francis. For each day of the year, the book gives a daily meditation from the words of Pope Francis and a reflection question to help you apply his words to your life. Available in paperback or digital download for your Kindle or Nook! (It’s true my husband authored this book, shameless plug I know, but it really does make for an awesome gift!)

For the Road Tripper

How about preparing a Catholic car gift set for the friend with a long commute or chronic road tripper? Tiny Saints offers adorable little charms for their keys, a St. Christopher visor clip and/or an auto rosary for their rearview mirror are a must, and a decal from CatholiCar is a great finishing touch. And don’t forget the rosary steering wheel cover from Travel Rosary. Why there are so many Catholic car accessories? I don’t know.

From Monasteries

Gifts that support our religious communities are a win-win. The gift recipient gets something made with love and the gift giver is supporting a great cause. Give a gift below and watch your heart grow three times.

Food

There are so many delicious food options to choose from, which makes it difficult to narrow things down. Pancake mixes, Trappist Preserves, and anything chocolate rise to the top of my list, but I’ll let you pick what you think your recipients favorite will be.

For Him

For the manly man in your life who let No Shave November continue into No Shave December, Seignadou Soap offers a Gentleman’s Shaving Soap Gift Set. Forget the gel in a can, this is how real men shave.

For the Kiddos

This year I’ve pulled together a few saintly selections. Use your noggin and come up with one of your own if nothing here strikes your fancy.

Mama Mary

Shining Light Dolls sell vinyl toy dolls of various images of Mary from throughout the ages. These new little dolls are perfect for collecting, so if you have a Goddaughter, now is the time to start a great tradition! Make sure to include an Our Lady of Guadalupe pop up book, an Our Lady of Fatima coloring book, or an Our Lady of Lourdes picture book to go with the matching doll!

St. Therese of Lisieux

It’s easy to create a St. Therese pack. All you have to do is find things that have to do with flowers! This Bouquet Arrangement Playset looks particularly fun and I’m also liking this flower pressing kit. Grab the My Catholic Family: St. Therese DVD to go with it.

St. Francis of Assisi

For our animal loving Saint you could purchase your little recipient a play vet kit, so they too can care for all of God’s creatures. Or you could get them the story St. Francis and the Wolf and pair it with a plush wolf to be their own wolf buddy.

Happy Advent and blessings on your Christmas shopping. Is there anything else you’d add to this list?
